§01Hello

Hi, I’m Timothy. I study Economics & Politics at UC Berkeley and Sciences Po. Most of what I make circles one question: how do people decide things together and stay honest to those decisions?

This is my corner of the internet: photographs, notes, class work, and things I’ve built with a few locally-hosted dependencies. This website and my Git Republic project are hosted on my Raspberry Pi in my student cooperative.

§03 What I’m buildingpoezine.org

A record nobody has to take on trust

Most groups keep their decisions in someone’s spreadsheet or someone’s server, and trust that person not to change them. entity is my attempt at the alternative: every act — joining, voting, spending — is signed by the person who made it and appended to a chain that every member’s copy replays and checks for itself. The rules live inside the same record, so changing them is itself a decision, under rules the members set in advance. It’s plain JavaScript with no dependencies, and it runs the co-op and societies hosted at poezine.org.
